Shiloh Baptist Church has been a cornerstone of faith and service in Tuckahoe and Eastchester for over a century. Our enduring impact reflects a steadfast commitment to spiritual growth, community development, and social justice.

Historical Legacy

Founded in 1910, Shiloh has grown from humble beginnings to become a thriving congregation with a rich history of resilience and progress. Through the leadership of visionary pastors and the dedication of faithful members, our church has continually adapted to meet the evolving needs of our community. From the construction of our beautiful sanctuary in 1930 to the ordination of our first women deacons in 2021, Shiloh has remained a symbol of perseverance and hope.

Community Engagement

At the heart of Shiloh’s ministry is a commitment to serving others. Over the years, we have organized countless initiatives to support those in need, including:

  • Homeless Outreach: Providing meals, clothing, and blessing bags to the homeless and underserved populations.

  • Youth Support: Partnering with local schools and organizations to offer mentorship and educational programs.

  • Seasonal Drives: Collecting and distributing essential items during times of heightened need, such as winter clothing drives and back-to-school supply giveaways.

Advocacy and Social Justice

Shiloh Baptist Church has always stood for justice and equality. Our congregation has participated in Black Lives Matter rallies, advocating for systemic change and an end to racial injustice. We believe that faith and action go hand in hand, and we continue to educate and inspire others to work toward a more equitable society.

Cultural Contributions

As a church deeply connected to the arts, Shiloh has embraced opportunities to showcase its heritage and community spirit. In 2020, our sanctuary served as a filming location for an episode of the acclaimed television series POSE, highlighting the historical and cultural significance of our sacred space.

Strength During Challenges

Throughout its history, Shiloh has demonstrated resilience in the face of adversity. Whether recovering from a major sanctuary flood in 2009 or navigating the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, our congregation has remained steadfast in faith and unity. During the pandemic, under the leadership of Pastor Gerald, Shiloh was able to continue worship and service with minimal disruption, missing only one Sunday of worship.

Looking Ahead

As we move forward, Shiloh Baptist Church remains dedicated to being a light in the community. We invite all to join us as we continue to glorify God, serve others, and create lasting change. Together, we can build on our legacy of faith and make a meaningful impact for generations to come.
